Assault with a Deadly Weapon Investigation

South Pasadena (Calif.) – On February 23, 2024, at about 11:21 a.m., South Pasadena Police Officers responded to the 800 Block of Park Avenue (Garfield Park) for a verbal confrontation between two parties. As they were responding, they received further information that the incident escalated into a shooting. On arrival, officers determined that a single shot had been fired from Park Avenue into Garfield Park. No one was struck, and the shooting suspect entered a vehicle and fled from the area.
The shooting suspect was described as a Hispanic male, wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt and wearing a balaclava-type “ski mask.” There were possibly two other male occupants in the vehicle wearing dark hooded sweatshirts. The vehicle they fled in is described as an older model blue Toyota Camry with rear traffic collision damage. Through later investigation, the plate of the vehicle was discovered.

The vehicle and driver were located in the Northeast area of the Los Angeles area, and a single juvenile suspect has been arrested and is now in custody. South Pasadena Police Detectives are currently searching for the two outstanding subjects. The investigation is ongoing. The Garfield Park area is been re-opened for public use.
