South Pasadena Police Department
Compliance with The California Values Act (SB 54)
South Pasadena (Calif.) – The South Pasadena Police Department has received a number of inquiries from the community regarding immigration concerns stemming from the recent, well-publicized federal immigration raids which have occurred across the nation.
In 2017, the Department reviewed and revised its policy on immigration enforcement, to update to align with the California Values Act (SB 54), which in summary, protects the safety and well-being of all Californians by ensuring state and local law enforcement agencies, school police, and security departments will not engage in immigration enforcement activities. Further, no state or local resources will be used to investigate, detain, detect, report, or arrest persons solely for immigration enforcement purposes.
The South Pasadena Police Department’s Policy reflects the principles set forth in the California Values Act and adheres to all state and federal laws and mandates regarding immigration. The Department is committed to equitably serving everyone in our community, recognizing the dignity of all those we encounter.
The South Pasadena Police Department values the strong relationships we have built with all of our community members and will continue our endeavor to earn and keep the public’s trust each and every day. We remain steadfast in ensuring public safety, and community well-being remains accessible for all, regardless of immigration status or national origin.
