Clean Power Alliance

The City of South Pasadena is going 100% Green Power!

What is the Clean Power Alliance?

What is Clean Power Alliance?

Clean Power Alliance (www.cleanpoweralliance.org) is a nonprofit entity, formed through a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) made up of 32 communities across Los Angeles and Ventura counties—including South Pasadena ]—working together to bring clean, renewable power choices to our communities.

How does it work?

Clean Power Alliance purchases clean power and Southern California Edison (SCE) will deliver it.

Nothing else changes—SCE will continue to deliver power to your home or business, send one bill, and be responsible for resolving any issues with your electricity service.

What changes and what stays the same?

Stays the same

We are excited and proud that our community enjoys the advantages of clean, renewable power at competitive rates! Starting October 2022, South Pasadena businesses can join residents and municipal facilities to receive 100% clean and renewable energy that is derived from sources like wind and sun. This is projected to annually reduce 18 million pounds of greenhouse gasses (equivalent to removing 1,800 cars off the road).

General Information

As part of our commitment to protecting the environment and building resiliency, South Pasadena has chosen to select 100% Green Power as the default option for our community, which provides 100% renewable energy content and gives residents and businesses the opportunity to join us in leading the way to a greener future. We are also committed to ensuring our community is equitable, customers enrolled in discount programs such as CARE and FERA are also enrolled in 100% Green Power but charged the same rates as they were previously paying to Southern California Edison (SCE), and therefore will see no bill impact while participating in the green economy.

The best part is: the choice is yours! 100% Green Power will be the default selection for our residents and businesses, but we understand the diverse needs of our community so if you decide 100% Green Power is not the best fit, you can change your service by selecting one of Clean Power Alliance’s other two rate options: Lean Power, which provides 40% clean power at the lowest possible cost, and Clean Power, which provides 50% clean power with the opportunity to support building a cleaner future. Customers may also choose to opt-out and select Southern California Edison as their electricity provider. To learn more about rate options, visit cleanpoweralliance.org/compare.
