Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Library Initiatives

The South Pasadena Public Library is committed to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), and strives to foster the appreciation of a pluralistic society and a culture of empathy through unfettered access to information. The Library has taken the following actions toward meeting this goal:

Published a Tips for Thoughtful Reading(PDF, 522KB) bookmark featuring conversation starters to help young readers explore the concepts of equity, diversity, and inclusion;
Provide ongoing training opportunities for staff about equity, diversity, and inclusion;
Decrease barriers to access to library materials and resources by eliminating overdue fines;
Signed on to the Urban Libraries Council Statement on Race and Social Equity.
Began the All Abilities Club for adults with developmental disabilities;
Formed a library staff-led EDI Committee.
