Friends of the Library
The Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, Inc. aim to meet the diverse needs of our community through education, culture, and recreation. Since its establishment in 1950, this organization, with over 700 dedicated members, has been a vital supporter of our library's evolution from its origins as a "free public reading room" in the 1890s. Through initiatives like our popular Bookstore, which gladly accepts donations of gently used books, videos/DVDs, and CDs, and our renowned Restoration Concert Series, featuring world-class musicians, we continue to enrich the fabric of South Pasadena's cultural life. Bookstore Donations
The Friends of the Library are accepting donations during Library hours.
Small donations consisting of the number of books a person can carry can be brought to the front door of the Library at 1100 Oxley Street or at the Reference Desk. Larger donations can be dropped off at the Library's side employee entrance on Fairview. The items should be boxed or bagged and placed on a bench located outside the door. Doorways must be kept clear. Those with very large donations are advised to contact the Library in advance by calling 626-403-7330.
Note that textbooks, magazines, VHS tapes, LPs, and cassettes cannot be accepted. Please keep in mind that donated items are meant for resale, not recycling. All proceeds from sales are used for library needs.

Bookstore hours
The Friends Bookstore on the second floor of the Library is open during Bookstore hours, and the first floor Last Chance Book Sale is open during Library hours.
The Bookstore is now accepting credit cards for payment over $10.

Membership
When you become a member of the Friends of the Library, you join a generous and compassionate circle of Friends who recognize that public funds are scarce, and libraries are vital. Visit the Friends website to join using a secure online form which accepts major credit cards and ACH, or to print a membership form which can be mailed with a check to the Friends, c/o South Pasadena Public Library.
