Community Engagement & Communication Strategies
To ensure transparency and active participation, the City will implement a robust community engagement and communication plan for the Library and Community Center site plan project. Strategies include:
1. Public Meetings & Workshops
- Host interactive workshops and open houses to gather community input.
- Provide updates and answer questions at City Council and Ad Hoc Committee meetings.
2. Surveys & Feedback Opportunities
- Conduct community surveys to assess needs and priorities.
- Provide online and in-person feedback forms to encourage public input.
- Host focus groups with key stakeholders, including seniors, families, and library users.
3. Digital & Social Media Outreach
- Maintain a dedicated project webpage with updates, timelines, and FAQs: www.southpasadenaca.gov/LPC.
- Use social media platforms: Facebook (City, Library, Senior Center), Instagram (City, Library, Community Services), Nextdoor, etc. to share news, event invitations, and engagement opportunities.
- Provide email updates with project milestones and ways to get involved (sign up here).
4. Print & Traditional Media
- Publish updates in local newspapers, community newsletters, and utility bill inserts.
- Display informational posters and flyers at the library, Senior Center, City Hall, and other public spaces.
5. Direct Community Engagement
- Attend community events, farmers' markets, and neighborhood gatherings to provide project information.
- Partner with local organizations, schools, and businesses to reach a broader audience.
- Offer interactive exhibits or information booths at the library and community center.
By using a combination of these strategies, the City aims to keep residents informed, engaged, and involved in shaping the future of these vital community spaces.
